The Hezhen Retro Series (PM8S) is “The Upgrade” — a significant step up from entry-level knives. Built with 3-layer 10Cr15CoMoV composite steel at HRC 60, these blades stay sharper for longer than German steel alternatives. The standout feature is the traditional Japanese octagonal handle in red wood with black buffalo horn accents, designed for ergonomic comfort and ambidextrous use. With 13 knife types including a sakimaru, honesuki, and a 10-inch bunka, the Retro Series offers one of the widest selections in the Hezhen range. This is the ideal series for home cooks who want Japanese-style craftsmanship and measurably better edge retention without the premium of full Damascus construction.
