4.68 Stars (63 reviews)

A 4-inch paring knife built for the close, in-hand work a chef's knife is too big for. The blade is a 3-layer composite: a 10Cr15CoMoV core hardened to 60±2 HRC, clad in Damascus-patterned SuS410 stainless. At 110mm with a 2.4mm spine, it sits short and nimble in the hand for peeling, trimming, deveining and shaping. Retro Series finish is stonewashed and sandblasted to a frosted black texture, with a Red Wood and black buffalo horn handle over a full tang.

DESCRIPTION

This is the blade you'll use for all the small, delicate tasks. The 4-inch paring knife is an extension of your hand, designed for all the in-hand, precision jobs where a big chef knife is just too clumsy. It's an indispensable tool for detailed prep work.

Your Precision Specialist

Reach for this nimble blade for peeling apples, hulling strawberries, coring tomatoes, or creating delicate garnishes. Its sharp, precise tip gives you complete control for trimming fat, deveining shrimp, or scoring dough. It's the small knife that does a thousand-and-one jobs.

Performance Meets Classic Style

At its heart is a high-performance 10Cr15CoMoV steel core, vacuum heat-treated to 60-62 HRC. This hard-cutting core takes a razor-sharp edge and holds it, giving you precise, effortless cuts. The stunning, octagonal "Retro" handle is crafted from a classic combination of deep red wood and genuine black buffalo horn, providing a secure, comfortable grip for total control.

The 4-inch knife you reach for off the board

Every kitchen needs a knife for the jobs your chef's knife can't do in your hand. This is it. The Retro paring knife is 110mm of nimble control for peeling, hulling, deveining and segmenting. The 10Cr15CoMoV core takes a fine 15-degree edge per side, and the frosted black Damascus cladding gives the series its retro look. Short blade, full tang, balanced for work done in the air rather than on the board.

Precision a big knife can't give you

Why a dedicated paring knife

Precision a big knife can't give you

A paring knife earns its place on the small, fiddly jobs: coring tomatoes, peeling apples and ginger, scoring, trimming fat, segmenting citrus, removing eyes from potatoes. The short 110mm blade keeps the tip close to your fingertips for control, and the thin 2.4mm spine slips through skin and pith cleanly. Hardened to 60±2 HRC, the edge holds through repeated detail cuts without rolling.

10Cr15CoMoV core, Damascus-clad

The steel

10Cr15CoMoV core, Damascus-clad

The cutting core is 10Cr15CoMoV, a cobalt-bearing stainless tool steel, vacuum heat-treated to 60±2 HRC for a fine, durable edge. It runs through the centre of a 3-layer composite blade, clad on both sides in Damascus-patterned SuS410 stainless. The cladding does two jobs: it adds corrosion resistance and gives the Retro Series its distinctive frosted black, stonewashed and sandblasted finish.

Red Wood and buffalo horn

In the hand

Red Wood and buffalo horn

The handle pairs Red Wood with a black buffalo horn bolster, set over a full tang that runs the length of the handle for balance and durability. At 84g the knife is light enough for extended detail work, and the short blade keeps the point under your fingertips where pinch-grip paring happens. Hand wash and dry only — this is not a dishwasher knife.

FAQs

What can I use this paring knife for?

Peeling, coring, hulling strawberries, deveining prawns, segmenting citrus, trimming fat and scoring — the close, in-hand jobs a large knife handles poorly. The 110mm blade keeps the tip near your fingertips.

What steel is the blade?

A 10Cr15CoMoV cobalt-bearing stainless core, hardened to 60±2 HRC, running through a 3-layer composite blade clad in Damascus-patterned SuS410 stainless.

Is this a real Damascus blade?

The outer cladding layers carry a true Damascus pattern in SuS410 stainless. The cutting core down the centre is 10Cr15CoMoV, which is what holds the edge.

What is the edge angle?

15 degrees per side, 30 degrees inclusive — a fine edge suited to precise detail cuts.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

No. Hand wash and dry only. Dishwasher use voids the warranty and damages both the edge and the wood handle.

What handle does it have?

Red Wood paired with a black buffalo horn bolster, set over a full tang for balance and durability.

What is included and is it covered by warranty?

One 4" paring knife in a premium gift box with paperwork, backed by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects such as layer delamination (excludes misuse, dropping and dishwasher damage).
