The Pinnacle of Hardness: ZDP-189 Powder Steel
The Zhen Series (X05Z) is the crown jewel of the Xinzuo collection, engineered for the connoisseur who demands the absolute maximum in edge retention. This series utilizes ZDP-189, a legendary Japanese powder metallurgy steel known for its extreme hardness.
Why the X05Z Series is Unique
- Extreme Hardness (65-67 HRC): At the core lies the ultra-premium ZDP-189 Powder Steel. With a carbon content of 3% and chromium of 20%, this steel achieves a staggering hardness of 65-67 HRC. This allows for an edge that is significantly sharper and lasts longer than almost any other steel on the market.
- 3-Layer San Mai Construction: To protect the ultra-hard core, the blade is crafted using a San Mai (3-layer) Composite technique. Two layers of softer, corrosion-resistant stainless steel sandwich the ZDP-189 core, providing essential durability and preventing brittleness.
- Rare Desert Ironwood Handle: Deviating from standard woods, the X05Z features a handle made from North American Desert Ironwood—one of the densest and most stable woods in the world. It is impervious to moisture and highly resistant to shrinking or cracking.
- White Buffalo Horn Bolster: The handle is finished with a stunning White Buffalo Horn bolster, creating a beautiful contrast against the dark Ironwood.
