The cutting edge is a 14Cr14MoVNb powder steel core, vacuum heat treated and deep frozen to 62±2 HRC for edge retention that holds through a week of prep. Around it sit 73 layers of Damascus with a 72-layer 316/316L stainless cladding, finished in a raindrop pattern. The Damascus here is real forged cladding, not a printed look; the pattern is the layers themselves. Blade stock is a lean 2.2mm, so it parts food rather than wedging it.

The handle is olive wood over a full tang, so the steel runs the length of the grip for strength and a balance point that sits near the bolster. A single stainless mosaic rivet pins it. It is real forged cladding. The blade is 73 layers of Damascus with 72 layers of 316/316L stainless around a 14Cr14MoVNb powder-steel core. The raindrop pattern is the layers themselves, not a print.
Is this knife made in China?
Yes, it is forged in Yangjiang, Guangdong, known as China's city of knives. The steel is a 14Cr14MoVNb powder-steel core, vacuum heat treated and deep frozen to 62±2 HRC.
How sharp is it and will it stay sharp?
The edge is ground to 15 degrees per side, double bevel. At 62±2 HRC the powder-steel core holds that edge through heavy daily prep before it needs a touch-up on a whetstone.
