Stop crushing your crusty sourdough. A serrated blade with the right set of teeth cuts through a hard crust and a soft crumb in one forward stroke, no pressing required. This 8-inch bread knife is long enough to clear a wide boule in a single pass without having to restart at the heel.
The Serrated Edge Advantage
Serrations grip the crust where a straight edge would slide and compress. You draw the blade back and the teeth do the work, so the crumb stays intact instead of squashing flat. The same principle applies on brioche, on a crusty baguette, and on ripe heirloom tomatoes where a straight blade just pushes the skin around. Light pressure, clean cut.
Damascus Steel, Linen Micarta Handle
The core is 10Cr15CoMoV high-carbon stainless steel, wrapped in 67 layers of Damascus and vacuum heat-treated to 60-62 HRC. That hardness means the serrations stay sharp far longer than a soft-steel bread knife would. The linen Micarta handle runs full-tang all the way to the butt, so the knife doesn't feel front-heavy when you're drawing it back through a wide loaf on a board. It's a bread knife that looks good on the bench, not hidden in a drawer.

ELEGANT SERIES
A Bread Knife That Saws, Not Crushes
Most knives squash a fresh loaf. This one doesn't. The 8.5" (213mm) serrated edge does the work of cutting so you don't have to press down. Deep gear-cut teeth bite into hard crust, then glide through soft crumb, tomato skin and pastry without tearing. It is the Elegant Series workhorse for anything you'd ruin with a straight blade.

WHY SERRATIONS
The Edge Does the Pressing
A serrated edge cuts on the pull stroke. Each gear-cut tooth concentrates force at its tip, so it pierces crust and skin while the gullets between teeth carry the slice through. You let the knife saw under its own weight, the crumb keeps its shape, and crusty sourdough comes away in clean even slices instead of a flattened mess.

THE STEEL
67-Layer Damascus, 60±2 HRC
The core is 10Cr15CoMoV, a high-carbon stainless wrapped in 66 outer layers of Damascus over 316L stainless cladding — 67 layers in total. It's vacuum heat treated and deep frozen, then hardened to 60±2 HRC for an edge that holds its bite. The folded cladding gives the blade its rippling pattern and adds stain resistance around the working core.

IN THE HAND
Linen Micarta, Full Tang
The handle is Linen Micarta — resin-set linen that stays grippy with wet or floury hands and won't swell or crack like timber. The blade runs full tang through it, so the 220g weight sits forward of your grip and the knife sees through a long sawing stroke without flexing or twisting.

FAQs
Can I sharpen a serrated bread knife at home?
Not like a straight edge. You can't run a serrated blade over a whetstone or honing rod the usual way — each scallop has to be sharpened individually with a tapered rod. In practice these serrations stay sharp for years, so most owners never need to.
Why can't I hone it on a steel like my chef's knife?
A honing rod realigns a flat straight edge. A serrated edge has dozens of small tooth tips instead of one continuous edge, so dragging it on a steel does nothing useful and can flatten the points. Leave it alone and it keeps cutting.
What's the blade length?
8.5 inches (213mm) — long enough to clear a full sourdough boule or large loaf in one stroke.
Is the blade actually Damascus?
Yes. It's 67 layers of genuine Damascus steel — a 10Cr15CoMoV core with 66 outer layers folded over 316L stainless cladding. The pattern is from the folding, not etched on.
What is the handle made of?
Linen Micarta — linen fabric set in resin. It grips well with wet or floury hands and won't crack, swell or stain like timber handles.
How hard is the steel?
60±2 HRC. It's vacuum heat treated and deep frozen, which holds a fine serration that bites into crust and resists dulling.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes — a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
