DESCRIPTION

Paring knives get tossed in a drawer with everything else and come out dull on the side that matters most. This wooden saya keeps the edge isolated and the tip intact between each job. Ash wood, magnetic hold, fits straight over the blade in one go.

A Proper Fit for a Small Blade

SG01 is sized for smaller paring knives, around the 9-10 cm range, where the fit needs to be tight or the knife rattles around inside and defeats the purpose. The ash wood is shaped to follow the slight taper of a paring blade, and the internal magnets engage as soon as the spine seats. It's a small thing that makes kitchen storage meaningfully safer.

FAQs

Does this sheath fit my paring knife?

It is cut for Xinzuo paring knives. The compatible models are B37, B35, PM8, B46, B32, B1, B30, B13, B20, B2, B38, X02 and X02M. Check your knife model against that list before ordering.

What is it made of?

Black walnut, a dense hardwood with a deep natural grain. Each saya is made in Yangjiang, Guangdong, China.

What are the dimensions?

14 cm long, 5 cm wide and 2 cm high, weighing 29 g. It suits a paring blade up to roughly 14 cm in length.

Is the knife included?

No. This is the saya only. It is the protective wooden cover for a paring knife you already own.

How do I put the knife in and take it out?

Hold the saya and slide the knife in spine-first until the handle seats against the opening. To remove, hold the handle and draw the blade straight out.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it dry and make sure the blade is dry before storing. Do not soak it or put it in the dishwasher. An occasional wipe of food-safe mineral oil keeps the walnut conditioned.

Why use a saya at all?

It covers the cutting edge so the knife stays sharp in a drawer or knife roll, and it makes a bare blade safe to store and travel with.
