DESCRIPTION

The 4.5-inch paring knife is your detail tool — peeling, hulling, deveining, trimming and intricate in-hand work where a small, agile blade gives you total control the big knives can't.

A Genuine Böhler M390 Super-Steel Edge

Despite its size, this parer carries the same authentic Böhler M390 MICROCLEAN powder-metallurgy super-steel core from Austria, heat-treated there to HRC 60-62 and clad in a 145-layer Damascus (316L stainless). M390's renowned edge retention holds a fine, precise tip through delicate work, and its corrosion resistance suits constant contact with acidic fruit and produce.

The Angel's Eye Handle

The Wa-style carbon-fibre and resin "Angel's Eye" handle, steel bolster and mosaic copper-flower inlay give this little knife a confident, comfortable grip for close, in-hand cutting. The full tang keeps it balanced and steady for fine, controlled detail.

The Premium Paring Knife

LI SERIES · X04

The Premium Paring Knife

The Li Series is Xinzuo's M390 powder-steel line, and the paring knife is where that steel earns its keep. At 4.5 inches it is the smallest blade in the kitchen and the one you reach for most — short, controllable, and sharp enough for detail work where a chef knife is too much knife. M390 holds its edge well past ordinary stainless, so the fine point stays fine.

Built For The Small Jobs

WHY A PARING KNIFE

Built For The Small Jobs

A short 114mm blade puts the edge close to your fingertips, so you steer the cut instead of muscling it. Peel, hull, trim, segment, and core with control a larger knife can't give you.

  • 114mm blade
  • 15° per side edge
  • 2mm spine
  • Carbon fibre handle
145-Layer M390 Damascus

THE STEEL

145-Layer M390 Damascus

The core is M390 — a powder-metallurgy stainless prized for fine, durable edges and strong corrosion resistance. It runs 60-62 HRC and is finished with vacuum heat treatment and a deep-freeze cycle to stabilise the steel. Over the core sit 145 layers of forged Damascus in a water-wave pattern — black-and-white contrast that is hammer-forged, not laser-engraved.

Carbon Fibre, Kept Light

IN THE HAND

Carbon Fibre, Kept Light

The handle is black resin carbon fibre, set with decorative copper mosaic inlays. It keeps the knife light and balanced toward the tip — exactly what you want for the quick, repetitive small cuts a paring knife lives on. The 2mm spine keeps the blade thin and precise.

FAQs

What is the X04 Li Series paring knife best for?

The small, precise jobs — peeling, hulling, trimming, segmenting citrus and deveining. The short 4.5-inch blade gives you close control a chef knife can't.

What steel is it made from?

An M390 powder-stainless core wrapped in 145-layer Damascus, with 316L stainless cladding (72 layers each side). M390 is known for fine, long-lasting edges and strong corrosion resistance.

How hard is the blade?

60-62 HRC. It is finished with vacuum heat treatment and a deep-freeze cycle to stabilise the steel before it is ground to 15 degrees per side.

Is the Damascus pattern real or printed?

Real. The water-wave pattern is hammer-forged from layered steel, not laser-engraved.

What is the handle made of?

Black resin carbon fibre with decorative copper mosaic inlays — light, durable, and balanced toward the tip for detail work.

Can it go in the dishwasher?

No. Hand wash only and dry immediately. The dishwasher's heat, detergent and knocking will damage the edge and finish.

What's in the box?

The knife in a handcrafted acacia wood gift box, backed by a lifetime warranty.
